Navy: Admiral seeks retirement in lying case
Rear Adm. John "Boomer" Stufflebeem has been convicted of making "false official statements" and has requested retirement, a Navy spokesman told CNN Monday.

5. If your funds are limited, then you may qualify for a volunteer lawyer or a legal aid lawyer. Volunteer, or pro bono, lawyers help people with fewer funds - volunteer lawyers are mostly junior lawyers working in big firms who have been asked to volunteer because their bosses want them to get some on-the-job training. Legal aid is a government program that allows the poor to access legal services. You can call a law firm and register under their pro bono program, or if you're looking for legal aid then look up in the phone book.
6. Finally, remember that when you are evaluating your Detroit child custody attorney during the interview, he too is sizing up. He can refuse to take your case in the following circumstances:
(i) if he feels you are not speaking the truth or are a dishonest person;
(ii) your case holds no water;
(iii) your case is only about passion and revenge;
(iv) you have fired lawyers previously;
(v) you negotiate on the fees or try to cut corners unnecessarily.
Winning custody of your children shouldn't be as difficult as it is. There are easy to follow and simple to learn programs available to you that will help you gain the upper hand and win your custody case. Don't simply listen to the advice of your lawyer because it may not be enough. Boost food supply, not protectionism: U.S. official (Reuters)
Reuters - Governments should avoid imposing export embargoes to protect local consumers from soaring food prices and instead invest in boosting supplies, a top U.S. food official said on Monday.
There are not as many varieties of mortgages as there were even a year ago. Adjustable rate mortgages (ARM) are a thing of the past. Borrowers now want the stability of a fixed rate. Borrowers want to know that their principle and interest payment is not going to go up. That said, about the only the only thing that a prospective borrower needs to make a decision on is the length of term.
Most borrowers today are choosing a straight up 30 yr fixed rate mortgage as their mortgage of choice. Their reasons for choosing a 30 yr fixed rate mortgage are varied although they all boil down to saving monthly on the mortgage payment. Retired borrowers are choosing a 30 yr fixed because they are realizing that they are never going to pay off their mortgage so they may as well save money monthly too.
Young parents may chose a 30 yr fixed mortgage because they need to save on the monthly mortgage payment because they have young children that will strech their budgets. Of course if you are a young parent with enough income to qualify for a 15 or 20 yr mortgage payment you may want to consider choosing one of them. I would caution to make sure that your income will be stable for quite some time before choosing a shorter term. You will need to ask yourself a couple of questions such as, if you have more children will you still be able to work full time or will you want to stay home with your children? If one of you couldn't work tomorrow would you still be able to make the monthly mortgage payment or would you be out forced out of the home?. If you can't say yes to either of these questions, I would advise you to stick with a 30 yr fixed mortgage payment or go down to a 20 yr fixed rate mortgage but don't go any lower.
Middle-age borrowers are choosing 20 or 15 yr mortgages, if they can afford the monthly payment. Middle-age borrowers still believe that they can and will pay off the mortgage on their home. They are thinking of retirement and don't want to have a mortgage payment to make when they are on a fixed income. Don't chose a shorter mortgage term if it is going to strap you financially because you never know what may happen in the future.
You must realize that once you make your choice on your term and close on your new mortgage you still may have buyers regret. I have had quite a few homeowners trying to refinance from a 15 yr fixed mortgage back to a 30 yr mortgage. Their payment is much lower on the 30 yr fixed rate mortgage so again they chose it so that they can save money on the monthly mortgage payment. The sad part is that sometimes these borrowers are not able to qualify for a new mortgage for several reasons one of them being a low credit score. Their property may also have gone down too low in value which makes it impossible for them to refinance.
The difference in interest rates between the different terms is not as large as it once was. In the refinance boom of a few years ago there was easily a difference of half a point on the rates. Now it is more like .25 point. Not much of a difference, if you ask me.
Keep in mind if you do chose the 30 yr fixed rate mortgage you can always pay extra toward the principle to pay it down like it is a 20 yr or 15 yr fixed rate mortgage but you are not stuck with the high payment of the shorter term if your funds are short one month.
